Revised Contract Procedure Rules for local authorities
The CIPFA, in association with the Constructing Excellence: Local Government Task Force, has produced a revised set of example Contract Procedure Rules that accommodate best practice and can be adopted by authorities with minimal effort.

Rethinking Construction in Local Government
Within Constructing Excellence, the Local Government Task Force has produced a suite of documents to help local authorities rise to the challenge of achieving continuous improvement and greater efficiencies. Rethinking Construction in Local Government - ten Key Issues and how to address them describes how local authorities can achieve the full benefits of this new way of working.

Supporting auditors.
Our qualified auditors and procurement specialists provide support to Internal Audit Sections in their preparation of contract audit strategies and their undertaking of contract audit assignments. We also undertake specialist work on behalf of organisations’ external auditors.

Clients throughout the UK.
Our clients include various public sector organisations including local authorities, Government agencies and universities.

Developing corporate procurement strategies.
We help local authorities develop strategies that are in line with the National Procurement Strategy issued by the ODPM in 2003. We ensure they are relevant to specific organisations through local research, facilitated workshops, and full consultation with senior officers and Members.

Working with project teams.
We are active members of teams for individual procurement exercises, including major partnering and PFI schemes. We develop quality/price selection processes that fully demonstrate probity and accountability, and ensure that contractors and service providers are appointed who have the greatest potential for delivering the project objectives. During the currency of contracts, we establish systems for recording and monitoring performance.

Providing Training.
We deliver training courses and workshops concerning all aspect of procurement. These are held at the organisation’s premises and can include technical staff, lawyers, auditors, senior officers and members.
